Shrinesweeper — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 October 2026 · applies to the web game at sweeper.hippotion.com
In short
- No accounts, no names, no email, no ads, no tracking across apps or websites.
- The game sends anonymous gameplay statistics (games started and finished, results, and how the game's modes and helpers are used) so the developer can improve it.
- These statistics carry a random ID created on your device. It is not linked to your name, account, phone number or advertising ID.
- Your IP address is not stored. Only your country is recorded, as a two-letter code.
Who we are
Shrinesweeper is a single-player puzzle game made by an independent developer (hippotion.com), the maker of Dice 'n Shrines. "We" below means that developer.
What the game sends
While you play, the game sends short, anonymous event messages to our own statistics server (game-stats.hippotion.com):
- Games: which mode you play (Day, Night or Nightmare) and which level or room; when a game ends, whether you won, how long it took, how many mistakes and hints, how many candles were left, and how far you got.
- Day mode: when you open a new room of the shrine and what kind of room it is, and when you clear one.
- How the game is used: when the game is opened and put away, switching modes, using hints, opening the help, the zoom level and the Reveal/Candle setting, and technical error messages if the game breaks. Also the game version and the screen size.
Along with these, the server records the country you are connecting from as a two-letter code (for example "HU"), provided by our network provider Cloudflare, and the time.
None of this identifies you. To tell how many players use a feature, as opposed to how often it is used, the messages carry a random ID that the game creates the first time it runs and keeps in your browser's local storage, plus a random ID for each session. These IDs are made up of random characters; they are not a hardware ID or advertising ID, and they are not linked to your name, email or any account. Clearing the site's data deletes the ID, and a new one is made next time.
What we do not collect
- No name, email, phone number, contacts, photos or files.
- No precise location. The country code is the only location-related information.
- No hardware device identifiers, advertising IDs or cookies (only the random ID described above).
- No IP addresses are stored. Your IP address is necessarily seen by Cloudflare and our server to deliver the game and receive statistics, like with any website, but it is not written to our database.
What stays on your device
The game keeps your progress and settings in your browser's local storage: your shrine in Day mode, how far you got in Night and Nightmare, your best levels, your zoom and Reveal/Candle setting, and whether you have seen the help. Nothing else in local storage is sent. Clearing the site's data removes it (and your progress with it).
Why we collect it
Only to improve the game: to see where players get stuck, whether the levels get harder at the right pace, which helpers are used, and to find bugs. We do not sell, rent or share the data, and it is not used for advertising or profiling.
Where it is kept, and for how long
The statistics are stored on a server operated by the developer in Slovakia (European Union), in a database of their own, separate from our other games. Because the data is anonymous gameplay information, it is kept for as long as it is useful for improving the game, and may be deleted at any time.
We use Cloudflare as a network provider to deliver the game and protect the server; it processes connection data under its own privacy policy.
Children
The game is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Your choices
Because we do not store data that identifies you, we cannot find your data from your name or email. The simplest way to stop sending statistics is to clear the game's site data. If you have questions or concerns, contact us below.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
